At the organizational level, the Security and Intelligence Service operates in the following priority areas:

Operational Activity

This area is suited to people with strong communication and interpersonal skills, a high degree of adaptability and flexibility, and a strong capacity for cooperation.

An operational intelligence officer is tasked with collecting intelligence and must therefore have a broad understanding of social, economic and political dynamics and be able to gain access to environments relevant to national security.

To perform successfully in the operational field, intelligence officers must be able to identify the underlying context behind seemingly minor developments and be prepared for demanding work requiring a high degree of loyalty, responsibility and discipline. Certain personal qualities are essential, particularly a significant degree of independence, creativity, resilience under stress, adaptability and flexibility.

Analytical Activity

This area is suited to people with strong analytical, synthesis and forecasting skills and the ability to transform raw data into information relevant to national security.

Officers working in this field must be able to identify risks and anticipate developments that may have a negative impact on national security. The results of analytical activity are generally provided to legally designated beneficiaries and decision-makers to support them in preventing national security risks and threats, as well as in leveraging opportunities to advance the national interest.

Intelligence, creativity and the ability to think critically are the defining requirements for this area of activity.

IT&C

This area is suited to people with professional training in fields such as engineering sciences — computer engineering and information technology, electronics and telecommunications, electrical engineering and automation, and systems engineering.

Applicants may also have qualifications in the exact sciences — mathematics, computer science, physics and engineering — or in economics with technical specializations such as cybernetics, statistics and economic informatics.

Intelligence officers specializing in IT&C are tasked with identifying technological solutions of a high degree of complexity. In practical terms, their involvement extends from the initial stages of designing and developing software and hardware tools and information systems, through the administration and maintenance of information and communications networks, to the implementation of cybersecurity innovations in line with the most advanced international practices.

Facilities Protection and Special Correspondence

This is an area in which physical fitness, integrity, honesty, operational discipline and knowledge of subordination procedures are essential.

Intelligence officers specializing in this field are responsible for ensuring access and control procedures at Service facilities and for delivering special correspondence to designated recipients.

To apply for a position in this area, you must be willing to work shifts, have a high level of physical endurance, strong observational skills and the ability to make prompt decisions. Self-control under highly demanding working conditions is an indispensable attribute in this field.

Graduates with qualifications in the field of Services, including study programmes in sports science, military sciences and security studies, are eligible for this area of activity. For non-commissioned officer positions, applicants who have graduated from colleges or centres of excellence in the military field, as well as persons who have completed compulsory military service, may be considered.
