Intelligence analysis is the process of transforming raw data collected through secret sources (HUMINT, SIGINT, IMINT, MASINT) or open sources (OSINT) into information relevant to national security.

This activity involves the selection, separation, comparison and integration of initial data, with the final outcome of this complex process being the production of intelligence products (complex documents containing verified, timely and relevant information, including assessment and forecasting elements).

The main effort of the Service’s analysts consists in applying value judgements, particularly to uncertainties, incomplete data and ambiguous situations, as well as in guiding data collection (for both the intelligence and counterintelligence components).

The result of intelligence analysis (the intelligence product) is generally disseminated to legally designated beneficiaries / decision-makers and is intended to support decisions of national interest in two priority areas:

a) preventing / reducing risks, threats and vulnerabilities to national security;

b) leveraging opportunities to advance national interests.
