In the context of the statements made in public space on involvement and/or prior information of the Security and Intelligence Service about a possible kidnapping of the Ukrainian citizen, Nicolae CEAUS, on the territory of the Republic of Moldova, the institution vehemently denies and firmly rejects these insinuations and interpretations.
We reiterate that SIS performs its duties in strict accordance with the legislation in force, with respect for human rights, including those of foreign citizens on the national territory. Therefore, we condemn any attempts to denigrate the institution and disapprove the allegations concerning involvement of the SIS in activities that go beyond the law.
SIS monitors the information related to the incident and cooperates with law enforcement bodies to elucidate all the circumstances. Also, the institution provides support, according to its competences, for legal assessment of the alleged facts.
In the same line, the Security and Intelligence Service encourages mass-media representatives to get first-hand information regarding the activity of the institution and to reflect the position of SIS in materials which concern it, granting the right of reply.
