In the context of accelerating digitization processes, building a modern information society, strengthening the digital ecosystem and the sustainable development of the business environment inevitably require the secure implementation and use of advanced digital mechanisms. Trust services are a fundamental component of these, ensuring the authenticity, integrity and legal validity of electronic transactions.
According to the provisions of Law no.124 of May 19, 2022 on electronic identification and trust services, trust services are defined as electronic services related to the creation, verification and validation of electronic signatures, electronic time stamps, electronic registered delivery services and certification for website authentication services.
By the same law the Security and Intelligence Service was designated as the supervisory body in the field of electronic identification and trust services. In this capacity, SIS has key tasks in:
- Development and promotion of state policy in the field of trust services;
- Maintenance and publication of the Trusted List.
The adoption of Law no. 124/2022 marked an important milestone in aligning the country to European standards in the field of trust services.
By consolidating this regulatory framework, SIS reaffirms its commitment to actively contribute to the protection of the national digital space, to the development of a trusted ecosystem for e-services and to guarantee the rights and interests of citizens, institutions and economic agents in a digital, secure and predictable environment.
