SIS Calls for Shutting Down New Websites that Publish False Information about COVID-19

The Director of the Security and Intelligence Service issued, on April 15, an order providing for the blocking of two online sources that spread fake news about the COVID-19 evolution and protection and prevention measures. The order setting out mandatory indications was forwarded to the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology in order to take the necessary measures.

Thus, the following portals will be shut down:  news-romania24h.xyz and caramida.news.blog.

Note: According to the Decision No.3 of 23 March 2020 of the Commission for Emergency Situations of the Republic of Moldova, providers of publicly available electronic communications services, by  the decision of National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology, based on the list of sources that SIS published, have an obligation to block immediately online sources that spread fake news about the COVID-19 evolution.
