The draft law on counterintelligence and external intelligence activity, adopted in final reading

The Parliament adopted in final reading the draft law on counterintelligence and external intelligence activity.

The document provides the list of counterintelligence measures, which can be carried out by the Security and Intelligence Service. They will be authorized by a judge from the Chișinău Court of Appeal, and the appeals will be examined by a panel of three judges from the Supreme Court of Justice. At the same time, the SIS intends to introduce a more rigorous and efficient mechanism for information control and security.

We note that after the first reading, around 20 public debates were organized, where the amendments, objections and recommendations of the Venice Commission were examined, as well as the opinions of the institutions.

The draft law on counterintelligence and external intelligence activity is part of a set of legislative initiatives concerning the activity of the Security and Intelligence Service.
