Foreign citizens declared undesirable for a period of 10 years for subversive activity on the territory of the Republic of Moldova

On February 27, 2023, during counter-intelligence measures aimed at detecting risks to national security, the Security and Intelligence Service found two foreign citizens on the territory of the Republic of Moldova that are connected to certain subversive centers outside the country.

They were trained in data and information gathering activities for the implementation of a plan to destabilize the internal situation in the country and cause a violent change to the constitutional order of the Republic of Moldova. Also, the two foreign individuals, disguised as simple tourists, were coordinated by a group of people affiliated to a covert network of experts in political technologies and social engineering from abroad.

It should be noted that, during their stay on the national territory of the Republic of Moldova, the foreign citizens initiated a complex of intelligence and subversive actions to investigate various locations near government offices and critical infrastructure facilities. Moreover, they actively participated in monitoring of social and political processes in the country and the protest actions organized in the capital by certain political forces.

In order to stop the subversive activity likely to endanger the national security of the Republic of Moldova, the Security and Intelligence Service jointly with the General Inspectorate for Migration declared the foreign citizens as undesirable persons for a period of 10 years and removed them from the territory of the country, in accordance with art. 55 para. (1) from Law no. 200/2010 on regime of foreigners in the Republic of Moldova.
