The Director of the Security and Intelligence Service issued, on May 1, an order providing for the blocking of an online source that spreads fake news about the COVID-19 evolution and measures taken for protection and prevention of the pandemic.
The order setting out mandatory indications was forwarded to the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology in order to take the necessary measures. Thus, the portal moldoinfo.wordpress.com will be shut down.
We reiterate that, in accordance with Disposition No. 3 of 23 March 2020 of the Commission for Emergency Situations of the Republic of Moldova, providers of publicly available electronic communications services, by the decision of National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology, based on the list of sources that SIS published, have an obligation to block immediately online sources that spread fake news about the COVID-19 evolution.
