Vitalie Pîrlog, New SIS Director
On December 21, 2017, the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova appointed Vitalie PÎRLOG as the Director of the Security and Intelligence Service.
The new Director met employees of the Security and Intelligence Service on the same day he was sworn into office. Andrian CANDU, President of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, and Mihai BALAN, former Director of the intelligence service, also attended the event.
In his speech, Andrian CANDU congratulated Vitalie PÎRLOG, the new SIS Director, and wished him success and great achievements in his mandate to ensure national security together with a professional team. The President of the Parliament thanked Mihai BALAN for the professionalism, fairness, and responsibility he proved during his mandate.
Vitalie PÎRLOG pointed out that he will make his best endeavours to make the Security and Intelligence Service a true representation of a body that defends essential values of the citizen, society, and country. He mentioned that he aims to follow an ambitious agenda to ensure a functional framework appropriate to major changes in the concepts of national security. Among the priorities, he remarked the continuous development of the directions that are fundamental for the institutional policy and growth of the intellectual and operational capacities of the Service. Another objective is to openly strengthen and promote the security culture, according to legal institutional responsibilities and legitimate interests of the citizens of the Republic of Moldova.
Mihai BALAN, former Director of the intelligence service, congratulated Vitalie PÎRLOG on his appointment and wished him remarkable professional achievements. Moreover, Mr. BALAN expressed his appreciation to the whole staff for their high level of professional expertise and urged them to work with the same diligence to be able to address challenges to the national security.
