Special Institutional Capacities, Discussed at the SIS Board Meeting
A meeting of the Security and Intelligence Service Board, presided by the SIS Director, Mihai BALAN, took place on 29 September 2017. The Board examined the matters related to the SIS Special Forces managed by the institution to identify, prevent and counteract security risks.
According to the Action Plan on implementation of the SIS Reform Strategy, this topic is a strategic objective in the reformation process of the Service.
A comprehensive presentation on the state of affairs was made at the meeting. It assessed the achieved results, reviewed shortcomings, and analysed the perspective of continuous strengthening and developing of the SIS fighting capacities.
Mihai BALAN pointed out the need to boost and support the process of providing the intelligence officer with efficient tools, in order to cope with the current insecurity challenges.
At the same time, the SIS Director reiterated the obligation to establish the supremacy of democratic values and human rights as a primary standard in the process of ensuring national security.
After the identification of the matters, the Board members adopted a number of decisions concerning elimination of the found shortcomings, and set deadlines for their implementation.
