Security and Intelligence Service and the Prosecutor’s Office developed a common operational activity in Soroca
The Security and Intelligence Service jointly with the Prosecutor’s Office from Soroca detained a 27 years old inhabitant of the Soroca district, suspected in delivering, selling and illegal storing of ammunition, as well as violation of the norms regulating the circulation of toxic substances.
Following the criminal proceedings and special investigation measures, a container with 1,5 kg of mercury was discovered and picked-up at the residence of the suspect. On another address indicated by the suspect, 16 cartridges of 5,45 caliber, 38 cartridges of 7,62 caliber, one unidentified cartridge and a piece of cartridge were found.
According to the information obtained within the criminal proceedings, there are reasonable suspicions that the mercury and the ammunition were brought in from transnistrian region for the purpose of selling.
Moreover, it was established that persons holding public positions within state institution and law enforcement authorities were involved in these offenses.
At present, SIS officers and the prosecutors undertake special investigation measures and actions of criminal proceedings in order to establish the origin of the objects, the involvement of any other person in this criminal activity, as well as other relevant circumstances necessary for solving the case.
